Rejoice and be glad as this is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes. As a Union within the Convention, God has helped you to come this far and we bless the name of the Lord for things He has done through your ministry within the NBC and beyond.
Today, as a formidable Organization within the NBC, we are proud to identify with you not only as our marvelous mothers but as our first sponsor. RAN is where she is today because you resolved to nurture the Organization when it was first introduced to Nigeria from the Brotherhood Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention in 1920. Records have it that “the Women Missionary Union sponsored the Organization from the beginning until 1954 before the Men’s Department was established. For this, RAN is eternally grateful. We say, unequivocally, that as your children, we have inherited virtues, Christlikeness and we are sincerely proud of these qualities. The foundation you laid has helped the MMU to translate the Organization to where it is today and for this, we give God the glory.
As you mark Centenary, our singular charge to you as our beloved mothers and Union is to keep pressing towards the mark (Philip. 4:14) knowing fully well that we have more grounds to cover (Joshua 13:1). Kudos to the past leaders of the Union and to the present leadership under Revd. Dr. Mrs. R. O. Lateju, the Executive Director.
Again, on behalf of RAN, we celebrate you and wish the union a wonderful, Spirit-filled experience and epoch-making centenary celebration.
Congratulations, Worthy Mothers.
